An Affiliate Program with a Graphical Nature

| Comments (2)

I think that most readers of the Graphic Design Forum blogs are aware that the site is part of the Graphics.com Network. But it's less well understood that the Network is in turn a member of JupiterOnlineMedia, itself a division of Jupitermedia Corporation (don't worry, there will be no pop quiz). Another division of Jupitermedia is Jupiterimages, which has grown from consisting originally just of Clipart.com and Photos.com, to including a wealth of stock content sites, covering everything from royalty-free microstock, to high-end photos, illustrations, music, footage and Flash clips.

I mention all this here because many of these sites have been harnessed into a unique affiliate program, in the domain of stock content. First of all, full disclosure requires that you know that one of the hats I wear is that of the editor of the monthly newsletter sent out to members of the Jupiterimages affiliate program. This was something I put in place several years ago when the program started to grow substantially, as a way of keeping members current on new offerings from the participating sites. I've always been a fan of affiliate programs, beginning back in 1995 as an early Amazon affiliate and from the other side of the fence when I set up one of the first large-scale affiliate programs dedicated to graphics products in 1998.

Without getting all gushy about the Jupiterimages program, I think it's simply worth pointing out the many content offerings that are all available in one place: Clipart.com, ClipartConnection.com, AnimationFactory.com, Photos.com, the Stockxpert microstock site, the BBM.net music site, Comstock Complete and Jupiterimages.com itself, the mother ship of the Jupiterimages stock content empire. Taken together, this really does provide the broadest spectrum by far of such a program, allowing you to pick and choose the offers that you feel are the best fit for your site visitors, with the program itself managed by the venerable and trusted Commission Junction service. And of course there's those invaluable monthly newsletters .

If you have any questions about the program, feel free to post them here. More information is available here.

I found your article interesting and was wondering if anybody on the forum does affiliate marketing. I get spammed with it all the time and just thought it was up there with winning free ipods and stuff. Can I really make some money with it?

Thanks,
Andy

Chris Dickman responds: It's really a question of whether the products and services are a fit for the needs of your site visitors. If so, then yes.

Affiliate Marketing is a type of internet marketing that allows websites to share traffic and revenue using banner, text, product or content advertisements. Merchants who sell goods and services online pay commissions to site owners (Affiliates) for referring sales or leads. From a merchant standpoint, the ROI for affiliate marketing is much greater as merchants pay only for results.
